Instructions for donating to the Freeman York Athletic Scholarship

The Freeman York Athletic Scholarship Endowment Fund is created to honor the memory of Aaron Freeman York [1975-2012]. Known as Freeman to his many friends and family, his parents named him with purpose, so that he could be free to be himself in all circumstances. He embraced this philosophy with unbridled enthusiasm throughout his life. He loved his family and his wide and diverse network of friends without reservation and all are better for his influence in their lives. Freeman, a North Carolina native, earned his computer engineering degree from Georgia Tech in 1998. During his years at Tech, he gained the respect and admiration of his classmates, the faculty, and staff and developed a deep connection with his alma mater and his beloved Yellow Jackets. It is the intention of the Donors that the Freeman York Athletic Scholarship shall continue Freeman York’s legacy at Georgia Tech, serving as inspiration to future generations of student athletes and allowing them to achieve their education goals while participating as Yellow Jackets.

Scholarships shall be awarded to undergraduate students who are participating in the intercollegiate athletics program, with preference given to the following sports, rotating the sport preference with each recipient selected whenever possible: baseball; volleyball; and swimming. If a student cannot be identified who is eligible for scholarship support from the three preference sports, then a qualified student from a non-revenue or Olympic sport shall be selected.

  2. Select “Give Now” in the top menu
  3. Select “Give to an area of your choice”
  4. In the next pop-up, scroll to the bottom and select “Other: Enter Details in Special Instructions”
  5. Most Important – Enter “Freeman York Athletic Scholarship” in the “Comments or Special Instructions” box
